RE: One of my favorites

The North Trail glass design is not offensive. Great idea on adding the limo tint; will use this if necessary. In our current TT, we covered 4 glass door inserts with a solid beige ribbed fabric placemat cut to fit. Really gave the interior a clean look!

RE: Heartland North Trail

The only real complaint we have is that I cannot cook in the oven/microwave and run the air at the same time. Have you checked on this with Heartland? Seems like you would really need the AC to operate if the oven is on. Will the microwave operate while air is on?

RE: Heartland North Trail

Actually, that's not true. The Jayfeather wall is 1/2" less thick, used a HSLA frame, had only perimeter framing (no on-center framing of walls) and uses wood to frame the end walls. The Heartland has a thicker wall, better R-value, 6 sided alum. and on-center framing. I am the OP. As said R values are R10 and R7. We are former owners of Jayco (Jayfeather) and the 09 North Trails are constructed far superior. Even the passthru compartment has finished walls and insulation. Hopefully, you got a Jayfeather that was well manufactured. We will never consider another Jayco product due to our negative experience with the company. Thanks for all the comments.

RE: New TT Linoleum Issue

I think I recently saw what the OP is describing. Walked thru a 2006 Kodiak that looked to be in great shape. Yet, you could see where supports ran under the lineoleum.

Info wanted on Rear Kitchen in TT

Would like to hear some likes or dislikes regarding a rear kitchen set up? Have always had kitchen along side wall & considering a North Trail with rear kitchen. Model is 26 feet, plenty of space in front of kitchen area, has window over sink/stove area. Also, are there any issues with having the fridge as part of a slide? Appreciate any comments you can share! Thanks!

RE: New buyer looking at Coachman, FunFinder, Kodiak

Of those three.....I'd choose the Kodiak. Just looked at several models (including an 06) of Kodiak today. They seem to be pretty well put together. Another post here by a Kodiak member speaks positively about construction when he says that temperature holds pretty steady inside TT.

RE: Heartland North Trail

I think Heartland did it right, they featured the unit with thicker walls (2"), twice the framing in sidewalls as others, crowned roof with actual truss framing, a higher level of real hardwoods and by using decent fixtures and details for the price/weight. Some units at the same price point come with a LCD and Combo unit or electric awning, what you don't realize is they built a unit with a flat roof, 24" O.C. sidewall framing, 1-1/2" walls and thin veneer's. Yes, I would agree. Spent most of the day doing comparison RV shopping. So far the Heartland products are looking very good! Have also discovered that the North Trail and Sundance are the same Heartland floorplans. A few fabric choices are different. Really want to see the 26 ft. model. The space in the 28RLS is fabulous! Still on the hunt......... Thanks for all the feedback!

RE: Opinions on 2008 Kodiak Scamper 27CDSL

85AllegroSam.......great info. What type engine is in the Dodge you are towing with? Yes, the bathroom layout is great!

Heartland North Trail

Anyone own a North Trail? Toured several models that just arrived on lot & construction appears to be very good. Roof & floor is R 10 and sides are R 7 value. Considered to be ultralites but dry weights range from 4350 to 5390. Would love to hear comments from owners! :)

Opinions on 2008 Kodiak Scamper 27CDSL

Considering this unit....have not yet seen in person, just photos. It is a product of Dutchmen/Thor. What is the reputation like? All negatives & positives welcome!

RE: Cosmetic or Something More Serious?

As said, could be just manufacturer's defect. However, I would be leary due to having had a NEW 03 Jayco with leaks that could not be fixed with a roof replacement done at Jayco factory. We had similar bubbles on ceiling that held moisture. Can be detected by poking a straight pin into the bubble. The section that adjoins the wall just looks to be poor workmanship but hard to tell about the other wrinkle. As said, check everything on exterior. If you have a marine facility in the area, try to borrow a moisture meter (used on boat hulls) to scan the exterior fiberglass in case there is moisture that cannot be seen. We learned that this does in fact occur! If you see anything that resembles a bubble in fiberglass exterior, RUN fast. That would indicate delamination of walls. We had experience with this as well on NEW Jayco.

RE: Packing and Storage Tips for new trailer owners

After checking out all TT storage areas, take a trip to the dollar store. They have a variety of great baskets, plastic containers & organizers. Dollar store is great for tongs & other cooking utensils. Make up a first aid kit & place it where you can easily find it! Have fun!

RE: Cheoah Point Campground, NC

Have not been but someone on the forum has been camphosts there. I do remember that they liked the campground & said it was beautiful. Hopefully, you'll get some other responses.

RE: Leaks... How many of you have had them , big or small?

The Trail Lite in signature does NOT leak. :) We previously had an old PUP that did not leak and a newly purchased 2003 Jayco that DID LEAK and delaminated. NEw roof installed by Jayco factory and leaks became worse. Thank heavens it was under warranty. I think it went to TT graveyard. A real lemon!!

RE: Keystone Passport 280BH VS Coachmen Captiva 290BHS

You don't say what the weight of the TT is. Remember to include extra wt for A C unit, awning, grill, general stuff. Toyota makes a great van but seems like a compact hybrid might be your max for enjoyable/safe towing. Check all figures before you buy. Follow the 80% rule to keep your family safe.
